Seeking the Unseen is part of Helene Moltke-Leth’s Mirroring series, initiated in 2023. Moltke-Leth’s concept of the “mirror image” functions as a unique aperture—squared, rectangular, or circular; vertical or horizontal—each work offering a distinct visual and sensory experience of light, shapes, material, and movement.
In the artist’s own words:
“My works stir the senses, reflect the viewer, and blur the boundaries between the visible and the invisible. I move between photography, painting, and sculpture—where light, materiality, and reflection do more than create images: they spark transformation.
The reflections in my work are not crystal clear. They are softened, dissolved—a suggestion rather than a depiction. The viewer is not met with a precise mirror, but with a sensory experience where the lines between self and other, between the individual and the infinite, begin to blur. I aim to evoke a sense of immanent transcendence—an encounter with something greater, something beyond us, yet rooted here, in the pulse of lived life.”
The series is the outcome of Moltke-Leth’s long-standing exploration—begun in the early 2000s with her experimental films—into light as a transformative medium that shapes and challenges human perception.
